Assessments part 2

Today the occupational therapist came by to take a look at Dexter. She was a lot more helpful than the other two in regards to placing where Dex is at in all this. The way she described it to me was kids tend to develop and learn things in a linear way. One thing leads to another, leads to another, and etc. Dexter has managed to skip some steps. Some of his fine motor skills are advanced, some are right on target, and some are a little behind. She said the goal of his therapy is to find out how he got from A to C without hitting B.

They're recommending occupational therapy in addition to the developmental and speech. This means that 3 days a week Dex will have therapy. This is going to be fun...

I'm not sure how all of this seems but I can say honestly that you're very lucky to be so closely involved with him and his progress.
At least you see him every day.
